Goodbye, Six Senses: Luxury hotel group exits Singapore, closes both hotels

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a tough time for the hospitality industry. In Singapore, it has spelled the finish of two boutique hotels – Six Senses Maxwell and Six Senses Duxton. Both hotels have been closed to the public since the circuit breaker period, and now will no longer reopen under the Six Senses flag.

Responding to queries by CNA Luxury, the luxury hotel and spa group said, "Vi Senses ceased management of Half-dozen Senses Duxton and Half-dozen Senses Maxwell from May 31, 2020. This was agreed mutually between Six Senses and the hotels' owners."

The two hotels opened in Singapore only two years ago in 2018, months apart from each other. The 6 Senses Duxton caused a stir when information technology opened in April 2018. It was Vi Senses's first city hotel, marking its entry into an urban setting. 3 months later in July, sister holding Six Senses Maxwell made its debut.

Six Senses Duxton, designed past British interior designer Anouska Hempel, featured 49 guest rooms. Six Senses Maxwell, designed by French designer and architect Jacques Garcia, was a larger property with 138 invitee rooms.

Both properties also featured beloved F&B outlets, including fine dining Chinese restaurant Xanthous Pot, all-day dining restaurant Cook & Tras Social Library and Half dozen Senses Brasserie, which served Modern European cuisine.

Since their closure, both hotels have been removed from the Six Senses website. The hotels' social media platforms have as well been deleted.

Responding to CNA Luxury'south query if the hospitality group will render to Singapore in the future, a 6 Senses spokesperson said, "Six Senses remains focused on strong growth opportunities and plans to expand its portfolio by calculation v resorts in Israel, India, Switzerland, Austria and Kingdom of spain, also as a city hotel in North America past the cease of next year. All will share a deep commitment to sustainable practices, pioneering wellness and delivering crafted experiences."
